Use our Eco Organic Compost: Multi-Purpose. Apply weekly liquid feed once established or add controlled release fertiliser granules at potting to last the whole growing season.

Dig a hole approximately twice the size of the root ball, loosen the soil at the bottom. Mix the excavated soil 50/50 with Eco Organic Compost: Tree and Shrub and firm in around the tree. Keep well-watered for the first year.
Rejuvenate lawns with 1cm of Eco Organic Soil Improver: Pro Mix and brush in to add organic matter and feed the grass roots. For seeding new areas of lawn, mix the grass seed with Eco Mix and apply to the prepared soil. For new turf, apply 2-3cm of Eco Mix before laying the turf to help establishment.
Start by levelling the area that's causing the issue and lay down hardcore to encourage drainage. Top the area with at least 5-6cm of Eco Bark Nuggets or aggregate depending on the look required.
To prevent weed growth, deter slugs and encourage natural predators, apply 6-7cm of Eco Amenity Bark Mulch or Eco Woodland Garden Mulch to your beds and problem areas.
For allotments & vegetable plots, apply 6-7 cm of Eco Organic Soil Improver and mix into the top 15cm of soil. For ‘no-dig’ systems use Eco Amenity Bark Mulch or Eco Organic Soil Improver: Coarse Mix to conserve moisture and prevent weed growth.
if the new beds have no soil, you can fill them with our Eco Organic Topsoil: SuperSoil to provide a nutrient rich topsoil for healthy plant growth.
Mix 5-6cm of Eco Organic Soil Improver into the top 15cm of soil. Organic matter is food for earthworms! Apply lime if the soil is acid.
Apply 5-6cm of Eco Organic Soil Improver and dig/fork into the top 15cm of soil. Cover bare soil areas with 6-7cm of Mulch in the autumn & winter to help conserve soil moisture.
Apply 5-6cm of Eco Organic Soil Improver: Coarse Mix when the soil is dry enough to dig over and mix into the top 15cm. For very heavy soils add some gravel to planting holes too.
So, mulch is a term used for any organic material that is used as a top dressing on your garden beds or borders. The dressing could be anything from a coarse compost, bark mulch, wood chippings, pine needles, grass clippings etc. Bark is a fantastic material to use as a mulch. It is made out of tree bark shredded into different chosen grades from more fine pieces to larger bark nuggets to top dress your beds.
We'd recommend to use 2 to 3 inches around trees and shrubs, however be sure to keep bark a few inches away from the base of a tree trunk in order to prevent any rot or rodent damage.
Also, bark decomposes slowly providing nutrients to your bed, but can attract carpenter ants
